NCAAT and NCAAT in Action is seeking a full-time Deputy Director. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Executive Director and Management Team to meet the organization’s needs as it continues to experience growth and expands to take on additional efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Director oversees all aspects of NCAAT’s programmatic activity, personnel management, information technology, and events to guarantee seamless coordination, optimal support of programmatic activities, and best practices in overall staff support.
Status: Full-time, exempt
Salary Range: $105,000 – 120,000
Experience Requirements: 5-7 years with a strong emphasis on skills in leadership and management.
Location: Main office in Raleigh, NC; position is hybrid (3 days in office and 2 WFH), MUST be local or intend on moving to the area to be considered; requires occasional travel across the Triangle and other parts of the state.

Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Executive Director and Management Team to establish a strong organizational culture focused on values of equity and inclusion, delivering impact and innovation.
- Lead and manage a staff team of fifteen members, with four direct reports to successfully meet organization goals and mission through:
- Regular 1:1 supervision and annual performance review
- Coaching and mentorship for program staff to ensure ongoing professional and leadership development
- Build on the long-term strategic vision of the organization: with a primary responsibility for leading, designing and adjusting programmatic strategies needed to integrate the organization’s program ideas, issues and narratives into the public discourse.
- Deeply align with the vision and mission of the organization and be able to service as a strong spokesperson for the organization and its work
- Build relationships with stakeholders and advance work in coalition spaces
- Program Development and Management:
- Implement and evaluate program strategy through leading program staff, creating structures and processes, and developing project management, evaluation, and other tools.
- Develop and manage program budgets.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree Required
- At least 5-7 years of experience with a strong emphasis on skills in leadership and management and demonstrated ability to:
- Manage people effectively in a fast-paced work environment and clear desire to lead a team
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent time management skills ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- To share ideas help a team navigate complex challenges
- Experience with creating structures and processes for program implementation.
- Ability to strategically plan for the longer term
- High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, including the ability to:
- To understand, use, and manage their own emotions in positive ways to self-regulate, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
- To develop strong relationships with the Executive Director, staff, and organizational partners
- To approach problem-solving proactively while exercising flexibility, creativity, and humor
- Familiarity with political campaign cycles and structures
Core competencies:
- Committed to social justice and equity
- Able and willing to drive in North Carolina
- Able to work and thrive in a small collaborative teamwork environment
- Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Basic skills in any Asian language is a plus but is not required
