NCAAT is seeking paid callers to help reach out to community members and build the AAPI community in the state. They will follow a call script in order to reach out to voters and increase AAPI turnout in the coming election. They will be expected to communicate regularly with Field Organizer and Voter Outreach Leads. Paid callers will only be able to work predetermined phonebanks.

Status: Contract, about 8-12 hours each week until Election Day
Salary: $12/hour
Positions Available: Multiple

About the organization: North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on bringing together the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in North Carolina through civic engagement and political participation. Between 2000 and 2016, North Carolina’s Asian American population grew by 144 percent — the fastest rate among Southern states and the second-fastest in the country. However, only 57 percent of eligible Asian American residents are currently registered to vote. Our current work includes creating educational opportunities such as workshops and town halls, as well as directly engaging potential voters through voter registration drives, canvasses, and phone banks.

Qualifications: This position is ideal for a candidate with great interpersonal skills, organizational skills, an interest in civic engagement, and a desire to learn more about the NC AAPI community.

Candidates applying for this position must be:

  • Willing to adapt to the work hours of this schedule, with weekends and weeknights
  • Excellent verbal communicators, able to build relationships and engagement
  • Comfortable using digital tools to engage and communicate with networks remotely
  • Experience with canvassing or phonebanking is preferred
  • Paid callers must be comfortable talking to and making requests from strangers
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Basic skills in any Asian language is a plus, but is not required
