NCAAT is seeking Voter Outreach Leads for our voter registration program. Selected candidates will be expected to work remotely with partner groups to identify new volunteer leaders, build relationships with volunteers, hold check-ins and trainings with volunteer networks, and utilize a relational organizing app to guide folks through the voter registration process. Experience working with teams is required for this position. Leads will receive training and materials from the organization. The coordinators will be expected to communicate regularly with the Voter Engagement Director and Field Organizer.
Status: Contract – 10 hours/week minimum, through 11/7/2020 with potential to renew

About the organization: North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on bringing together the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in North Carolina through civic engagement and political participation. Between 2000 and 2016, North Carolina’s Asian American population grew by 144 percent — the fastest rate among Southern states and the second-fastest in the country. However, only 57 percent of eligible Asian American residents are currently registered to vote. Our current work includes creating educational opportunities such as workshops and town halls, as well as directly engaging potential voters through voter registration drives, canvasses, and phone banks.
Qualifications: This position is ideal for a candidate with great interpersonal skills, some leadership experience, an interest in civic engagement, and a desire to learn more about the NC AAPI community.
Candidates applying for this position must be:
- Comfortable using digital tools to engage and communicate with networks remotely
- Excellent verbal communicators; organized self-starters with a love for relationship-building
- Able and willing to travel in North Carolina, assuming it’s safe to do so
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Basic skills in any Asian language is a plus, but is not required
- Willing to work evenings and up to 3 weekends a month
