NCAAT is seeking a Youth Organizer to broaden our work with high school and college-aged youth around NC. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about engaging with students 1:1 and building relationships with campus administration. Candidates must also be committed to youth empowerment and social equity. The Youth Organizer will work closely with NCAAT staff, the youth program, and report to the Youth Engagement Coordinator.

Status: Part-time contract [30-35 hours/week]
Salary: $16/hour
Location: This position is remote until it is safe to return to the field

About the organization: North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on bringing together the Asian American community in North Carolina through civic engagement and political participation. Our youth program works across high school and college campuses to empower students, increase civic engagement, and be a resource for the growing Asian American student population. We have hosted educational workshops, voter registration drives, leadership development initiatives, and provided over $1,500 for youth and youth-led projects in our network.

Role Responsibilities:

    • Build NCAAT’s base and network on various high school and college campuses
    • Communicate regularly with students, student organizations, and youth volunteers
    • Attend relevant youth events to represent NCAAT and our youth program
    • Manage and organize youth volunteer and event data
    • Research growing Asian American populations in NC and plan outreach strategies
    • Assist with planning events, workshops, and leadership development opportunities for youth
    • Opportunity for youth workshop crafting and facilitation, campaign building, and mentoring
    • Able and willing to travel in North Carolina to Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Durham and occasional travel to other cities in NC assuming it’s safe to do so

    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
    • Willing to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
    • Have some experience with campus or community organizing or working with youth
    • Basic skills in any Asian language is a plus but is not required
