Arts and Film

NCAAT recognizes the big role that arts and media play in expressing the values of our community and engaging our community members.

We’ve worked with the Center for Asian American Media and the Southern Documentary Fund to highlight AAPI makers in the South and the stories that they tell.

We’re also looking to creating intersectional spaces to call attention to issues that affect all immigrant communities.

In 2018 for Asian Pacific American History Month, we hosted a film screening of the PBS documentary “The Chinese Exclusion Act” along with an excerpt from “Sanctuario,” a documentary about an undocumented immigrant currently in sanctuary in Greensboro, N.C. The screening was followed by a lively panel discussion about immigration issues that have been part of the legacy of the U.S. for centuries.
